10 Self Care Activities

By: Anonymous member

In order to maintain a good mental health, self care is essential. With self care, an individual takes time to reflect on themselves and disconnect from the outside world. Self care allows an individual to feel content and fulfilled because they are doing activities for their own well being. Being at a very competitive and stressful school, self care is needed to prevent burnout and bad mental health. It is important to take some time out of the day dedicated to self care in order to maintain good mental and physical health. Therefore, self care activities can help accomplish this goal. Below I have listed 10 self care activities that can be done in the morning.

  1. Go for a walk- A walk fulfills time for self care + exercise!

  2. Yoga (meditation is beneficial for both mental and physical health)

  3. Read a book!

  4. Draw or paint a picture (You DON'T have to be good at it! I love painting in my free time because it is very relaxing!)

  5. Listen to music (music has so much power and can affect your mood tremendously! Listening to good music will boost your mood!)

  6. Plant a garden (This is a great way to connect with nature!)

  7. Take a shower (If you are short on time, taking a shower is a form of self care too!)

  8. Turn off your phone for some time during the day (constantly using your phone can lead to a declining mental health)

  9. Engage with supportive friends and family (interacting with others who uplift you will have a positive effect on your overall mood and wellbeing!)

  10. Lastly, write 3 good things that happened each day (This doesn’t have to be big! Something small should be appreciated too!)

To conclude, your mental health is very important and should be prioritized before anything else! Remember to make time each day for self care and it will definitely have a positive effect! Mental Health Matters!!!
